On Thursday, July 24, 2025, Robert “Mitchell” Pitts left this earth surrounded by the love of his family. He was born December 15, 1950 to the late Robert Lee & Gladys Brown Pitts and lived out his 74 years working and caring for the land he loved so much.
He leaves behind his wife of fifty years, Kimberly Coleman Pitts, two children, Alan (Lisa) Pitts of Florence and Anna (Brandon) Fox of Georgetown, and four grandchildren, Larkin and Layne Pitts and Emma and Everly Fox. Gone before him are also a sister, Beverly Jean Pitts Turner, and a brother Alan Kent Pitts.
Mitchell was a farmer by blood and by trade but he was a historian at heart, studying the land & collecting Indian artifacts on his family’s farm from an early age. He was a man of God and one of integrity, honest and steady, a constant provider and a dependable friend and neighbor. He was also a great storyteller. Above all, he was a husband, a father, and a grandfather. Mitchell was proud of his family and loved them deeply in his own special ways, with an extra soft spot for his grandchildren.
The family will accept visitors on Sunday, July 27, 2025, from 2-3pm at Rehoboth Baptist Church before a service at 3pm.
In lieu of a graveside, the family will move to the fellowship hall following the ceremony for any who wish to stay.
