Robert Thomas McKenzie Sr., 72, passed away on Saturday, May 21, 2016 at the McLeod Hospice House. He was born April 4, 1944 in Jordan, SC, a son of the late Treleion and Almyrta McElveen McKenzie. Robert served in the US Army Airborne Division and continued his service to our country in the SC National Guard until retiring from the military. Most of his working career was in electrical utilities. He was an avid fisherman who enjoyed nothing more than to be out fishing with his friends or sons. He had a love for gardening and taught many of us how to be successful at it. Always willing to lend a helping hand, he was a kind-hearted man with a gentle smile and a unique sense of humor. He was well loved by his family and friends and in return he loved them deeply as well. Robert was a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Karin Englert McKenzie; 3 sons, Michael J. (Cheryl) McKenzie of Memphis, TN, Robert Thomas McKenzie Jr. of Florence, SC, and Craig K. McKenzie of Orange Park, FL; 5 grandchildren, Jennifer McKenzie Martin, Christopher McKenzie, Meredith McKenzie, Brian McKenzie, and Elise McKenzie; brothers, Gerald McKenzie, Franklin McKenzie, TJ McKenzie, and Roy McKenzie; sisters, Eris Wannamaker and Julia Lee and many nieces and nephews. In addition, he was preceded in death by brothers Tony McKenzie, William McKenzie, Charles McKenzie, and Kinley McKenzie, all of Florence, SC; and sister, Myrtlee Spencer of Hartsville, SC. A graveside funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at the Florence National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM-12:45 PM on Tuesday prior to the service at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home in Florence. Memorials may be made to McLeod Hospice House, P. O.
