Robert Wayne Johnson

Robert Wayne Johnson, 74, of Florence, formerly of Orlando, FL, passed away on Friday, February 27, 2015 at the McLeod Hospice House. Mr. Johnson was born in Jackson, TN, on July 26, 1940 and was the son of Robert Earl Johnson and Dorothy Cox Johnson.He graduated from Jackson High School, received his Bachelor’s degree from Union University in Jackson, TN and his Master’s degree from Purdue University.He was currently a member of Bethea Baptist Church in Darlington. He served for 24 years as the Minister of Media at First Baptist Church in Orlando, FL. Before retiring in 2010 he returned to Union University to teach theater and communications. Surviving are his loving wife of 48 years, Carol Lawrence Johnson of Florence; son, Jeff (Michelle) Johnson of Florence; daughter, Joye (Jonathan) Hickey of Orlando, FL; grandchildren, Austin and Peyton Johnson, both of Florence and Noel, Eva, Miles, Simon and Dexter Hickey all of Orlando. A memorial service will be held at the Downtown Baptist Church in Orlando, FL on Saturday, March 7 at 2 PM.
