Robert Davis

Robert Davis Florence, SC Robert Davis, 88, of Florence, passed away Wednesday, July 25, 2012 in a local hospital after an illness. Mr. Davis was born in Columbia, SC, a son of the late Asbury Davis. He served in the US Navy during WWII, then joined the US Army and served during the Korean Conflict, retiring as Battalion Sergeant Major after over 22 years of service. Mr. Davis was a former member of Dawsey United Methodist Church and former member of Southside Baptist Church; and was currently a member of Fellowship Free Will Baptist Church. Mr. Davis was a member of the VFW and enjoyed meeting people. Mr. Davis is preceded in death by his father; his step-mother, Janie Davis; his first wife, Helen "Elise" Turner Davis; and a brother, James Davis. Mr. Davis is survived by his wife, Sarah Frances Floyd Davis of Florence; son, Robert L. (Catherine) Davis of Concord, NC; two grandchildren, Mark Davis of Greensboro, NC, and Kevin Davis of Concord, NC. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 28, 2012 in the chapel of Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. Entombment will follow at Florence Memorial Gardens.
