ROBERT “BOB” ALVIN DUGAS FLORENCE, SC Robert “Bob” Alvin Dugas, 73, of Florence, passed away on Thursday, July 2, 2015 at McLeod Regional Medical Center. Mr. Dugas was born in Rhode Island, a son of the late Arthur Alvin Dugas and Evangeline Joyal Dugas.He was a veteran of the US Marine Corps during Vietnam and served 6 years in the Marine Special Forces Unit Recon where he was deployed in conjunction with the Cuban Missle Crisis.He and his wife organized the Patriotic Parade for 3 years and got the Marine Corps band from Parris Island to perform.He was an automotive mechanic and was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church.He was a life member of the Marine Corps League DET 410, member of the VFW 3181, a member of the American Legion Post I and a Mason.Bob loved history and visiting historical places, especially Williamsburg, VA.He enjoyed the New England Patriots and auto racing. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Robert Alvin Dugas, Jr. and a sister, Susan Pelkey. Surviving are his wife of 10 years, Betty Roberts Dugas of Florence; daughters, Sharon Lopez; granddaughter, Heather; grandson, Ben Price; brother, Francis Dugas of Mt. Pleasant and two sisters, Priscilla Heroux of Palm Bay, FL and Linda Patmoid of Palm Bay, FL. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at St. Anthony Catholic Church.Burial will follow in the Florence National Cemetery directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.
