Richard R. Watts

Richard R. Watts, 82, of Florence, SC, passed away on Monday, September 29, 2025, at MUSC Health Florence.

Mr. Watts was born in Indianapolis, IN, a son of the late Velva Harris Watts and George Watts. He was a veteran of the US Army, serving in the 82nd Airborne Division. Mr. Watts was also a licensed Pilot, a Flight Instructor, and an Auctioneer for over 48 years. He spent much of his life enjoying running, completing several half marathons and one full marathon. His greatest joy in life was being a “Pop” to 4 grandkids and 3 great grandkids.

Surviving are his wife, Nancy L. Watts of Florence; sons, Eric Watts (Lynn) of Pendleton, IN and Jody Watts (Kristen) of Charlotte, NC; daughters, Tori Phipps (Jonathan) of Florence and Lisa Watts (Ken Lee) of Myrtle Beach, SC; four grandchildren, Kaitlin, Hannah, Leah and Macy; three great-grandchildren, Zoey, Isaac and Cade; and brothers, Frank Watts (Tenna) and Ron Watts (Judy); and the Garands, a large loving extended family of in-laws.

Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, October 3, 2025, at Florence National Cemetery directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.
