Richard Oneal Waldrop, Sr.

Richard Oneal Waldrop, Sr. 78, of Florence, SC, passed away on Saturday, August 22, 2026.

Mr. Waldrop was born in Timmonsville, SC, the son of the late Mae Reynolds Waldrop and Wesley Waldrop. He graduated from Timmonsville High School and was a member of Florence Baptist Temple. He retired from Stone Container and volunteered at McLeod Hospice House for six years after the death of his wife.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Paxton Waldrop, two brothers and three sisters.

Surviving are his sons, Sam (Heather) Waldrop of Marion, SC, Ardy (Ginger) Waldrop, Jr. of Timmonsville, SC, Rich (Kristen) Waldrop of Langley AFB, VA, and Matthew (Kelley) Waldrop of Raleigh, NC; six grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at Florence Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. Entombment will follow. Family will receive friends following the service.
