Richard E. (Dick) Shroyer, 92, of Florence, passed away on Monday, May 26, 2025 at his home following a brief illness.
He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Joan Shroyer; a son, David (Connie) Shroyer; a daughter-in-law, Nancy Shroyer; and
grandchildren Jonathan (Lori) Shroyer, Samuel Shroyer, Carl DeVault, and Phillip (Betsy) DeVault; and 4 great-grandchildren, Owen, Hayden, Belle and Phillip Jr.
Mr. Shroyer was born in Altoona, PA, the son of Cecil Shroyer and Florence Gottshall. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church for 54 years. He was employed by Carbide-ESAB for 36 years as a product administrator. After retiring, he worked at Oakdale Country Club for 14 years.
Mr. Shroyer was a bowler for 52 years. He was a member of the Tri-County Senior Men’s Golf Association for 33 years and at the time of his passing was its longest-serving member. He bowled 29 years in national USBC tournaments and served the Florence Men’s Bowling Association both as a past director and president.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Shroyer was preceded in death by sons Rick Shroyer (and his wife, Sara) and Mike Shroyer; and his sister, Louise Hoover.
The family would like to thank McLeod Hospice for their care during this difficult time. We would also like to express our heartfelt gratitude to a special team of caregivers, Latonia, Mazie and Joann.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 3:00 pm Thursday, May 29, 2025 at Florence Memorial Gardens with the service to be held at 3:00 pm in the mausoleum.
