Richard Shearer Buck

Richard Shearer Buck, 86, of Florence, SC, passed away February 21, 2026.

He was the son of the late Harry L. Buck and Mary Esther Buck.

Richard found great joy in life’s simple pleasures—avid sports fan, enjoyed reading, raising Arabian horses, and indulging in Oreo cookies. He was a devoted father, proud grandfather, and steadfast provider who cared deeply for his family. Though he departed this life before his beloved wife, the love of his life, it brings comfort to know he went ahead to prepare a place for them together in their heavenly home.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Harry L. Buck Jr.

Surviving are his beloved wife of 61 years, Judith Gast Buck; son, James Richard (Jill) Buck; daughters, Nancy Marie (Sam) Shost and Lisa Ann (Todd) Feagin; grandchildren, Steven (Nicole) Shost, Matt (Rachel) Shost, Jay (Anna) Buck, Halee (Tyler) Rogers, Mary-Claire Buck (Damian Muro), Millie Buck, AJ Buck, Maegan (Joshua) Davidson, Kevin Brown (Merissa Taylor) and Kristen Brown (Parker Russ); 7 great grandchildren; brother, Thomas Buck.
