Rachel M Christopher

Rachel M. Christopher, a resident of the Bethea Home in Darlington, passed away early Sunday morning, August 24, 2014. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery. Miss Christopher was born in Athens, Alabama, a daughter of the late John Richard Christopher and Nannie Lou Barnes Christopher. She was a graduate of Athens High School, Athens College and Peabody College, from which she received her MA in English and Library Science.Before her retirement, she was employed as a Teacher and Librarian at Murray State College in Kentucky.She later relocated to Florence, SC., where she was a member of First Presbyterian Church. She is survived by two sisters, Richie C. Thornton of Bethea Home in Darlington, Dorothy Jean Hyde of Haleyville, Alabama and a number of nieces and nephews.
