Potista "Becky" N. Chavis

Potitsa "Becky" N. Chavis Florence, SC Potitsa "Becky" N. Chavis, 76, of Florence, passed away on Thursday, March 7, 2013 at her residence after an illness. Mrs. Chavis was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, a daughter of the late Constantine L. and Vasiliki Papanikalaou Stefanakos.She was a member of the Transfiguration of Our Savior Greek Orthodox Church and was a member of the Ladies Philoptochos. She is preceded in death in addition to her parents by two brothers, Leo Stefanakos and John Vourganas. Surviving are her loving husband of 55 years, Earl B. Chavis; two sons, Dino U. (Ann) Chavis of Florence and John P. (Robin) Chavis of Lynchburg; two daughters, Sabrina V. Chavis and Patrice C. (Mickey) Dill both of Florence; six grandchildren, Charles "Chas" B. (Ashlee) Head and Potitsa “Niki” Chavis (Reed) Sansbury both of Florence, Potista "Stephanie" (Justin) Arenas and John E. Chavis both of Charleston, Allyssa "Bre" Chavis of Columbia, and Georgia "Gina" Chavis of Florence; three great-grandchildren , Joaquin Thomas Arenas, Chavis Brennon Head, and Victoria Holland Sansbury; and a brother, Pete (Helen) Vourganas of Las Flores, CA. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Monday, March 11, 2013 in the Transfiguration of Our Savior Greek Orthodox Church.Entombment will follow in the Florence Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the McLeod Hospice of the Pee Dee, PO Box 100551, Florence, SC 29502 or to the Transfiguration of Our Savior Greek Orthodox Church, 2990 S. Cashua Drive, Florence, SC 29501. A Trisagion Service will be held at 7:00 PM on Sunday, March 10, 2013 at the funeral home with visitation following until 9:00 PM.
