Pierce Whitley Kennedy

Pierce Whitley Kennedy, 70, of Florence, passed away on Monday, June 23, 2014, at a local hospital. Mr. Kennedy was born in Florence County, a son of the late Lauren Kennedy and Abby Collins Kennedy.He was a member of Abundant Life Church for twenty-five years.Mr. Kennedy was an eighteen wheeler, long distance truck driver and retired from Floyd Medical Waste. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters. Surviving are his devoted wife of fifty-two years, Elaine Byrd Kennedy; his son,James (Brandy) Kennedy of Florence and their children, Kyle, Morgan and Sam; his goddaughter, Angela Dawn Yarborough; a brother, Randy (Bonnie) Kennedy and two sisters, Patsy (Billy) Kersey and Jean Dozier, all of Florence. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 27, 2014, in the Florence Memorial Gardens Chapel directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. Family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
