PAULINE COLLINS HARRELL FLORENCE, SC PAULINE COLLINS HARRELL,age 100, of Florence, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, January 26, 2014 at the McLeod Hospice House. Mrs. Harrell was born in Timmonsville, SC on September 15, 1913, to the late William Mack Collins and Mamie Etta Booth Collins.She attended schools in Florence, for many years worked side by side with her husband who was a farmer and was later employed in the cafeterias of McKenzie School and Timrod School for 16 years.She looked after all the students as if they were her own, which many of them called her “Grandma”.After she retired from the school district, she became a caregiver to the elderly in Florence, SC, Virginia Beach, VA and Austin, TX and retired from that at the age of 92.She was the oldest active member of Quinby Baptist Church and a member of the Effie Fender Friendship Sunday School Class.She enjoyed living life to the fullest and always had a smile on her face.She was loved by all who met her and she never met a stranger. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 54 years, Ernest J. Harrell; grandson, Patrick Perkins; sister, Ruby C. Harrell; brothers, William Henry Collins and George Willis Collins and was a surrogate mother to all of her nieces and nephews, all of whom predeceased her. Surviving are her daughters, Mamie H. Perkins, Bettie H. Wimberly and Marie H. (Jesse) Harrelson, all of Florence; son, Stephen C. (Lisa) Harrell of Butler, PA; 7 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren; 1 step-grandson and 4 step-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon, Wednesday, January 29, 2014 in the Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home Chapel.Burial will follow in Mizpah Cemetery on Hwy. 327 next to the entrance to the Country Club of South Carolina. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM – 12:00 Noon prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at the residence of Jesse and Marie Harrelson, 3409 South Irby Street, Florence.
