Paul Nick Kremidas

PAUL NICK KREMIDAS FLORENCE, S.C. PAUL NICK KREMIDAS, 78, of Florence, passed away Saturday, November 03, 2012 in a Florence hospital after an illness. Mr. Kremidas was born in Gorianades-Karpenisi, Evrytanias, Greece, a son of the late Nicholas and Theodora Kremidas. He emigrated to the United States in 1955 and worked at the Main-James Restaurant in Columbus OH. He returned to Greece where he married Effie Leris on December 30, 1961. In 1962 he returned to the United States and settled in Florence SC, working at the Carolina Café in Darlington. He was the owner and operator of the Sunrise Restaurant from 1963 until 1997, when he retired. Paul was a dedicated member of the Transfiguration of Our Savior Greek Orthodox Church since 1962, he served as a member of the Church Board, and cantors. He was a member of the Velouchi Society, having served as President of Chapter #1 in Florence. In addition to his wife, Effie P. Kremidas of Florence, he is survived by his children; Theodora Kremidas (Timothy) Dewitt, Nick Paul Kremidas and his fiance, Lauren Spring, and Jimmy Paul Kremidas, all of Florence; grandchildren, Elaina C. Dewitt, Alexander T. Dewitt and Paul C. Dewitt; brothers, Evangelos (Persefoni) Kremydas of Florence, George (Vasiliki) Kremidas of Greece and Panagiota (Chris) Poulos of Winchester, VA; his brother-in-law, George (Maria) Leris of Florence; sister-in-law, Voula (Angelo) Stabolitis of Florence, 14 nieces and nephews and 2 godchildren. There will be a Trisagion service at 5:30 PM Tuesday at the Funeral Home, with visitation following until 7:30 P.M. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, November 7, 2012 in the Transfiguration of Our Savior Greek Orthodox Church. Interment will follow in Florence Memorial Gardens, directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.
