Paul Edwin "Ed" Eleazer

d. May 23, 2020

Paul Edwin “Ed” Eleazer, Jr., 69, passed away on Saturday, May 23, 2020. Ed was born in Anderson, South Carolina to Edna Lovett Eleazer and the late Paul Edwin Eleazer, Sr. He grew up in various parts of central Florida and eventually moved to Australia to teach high school English, retaining a special fondness for these areas throughout his life. He was a Professor of English at Francis Marion University for 30 years and recently retired in 2018. As a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Florence he taught Sunday School and Bible Studies for many years. Ed’s passion for teaching was unmistakable, and his mission was to lead others along their own paths of curiosity. Those who knew him best appreciated his witty remarks and Canterbury Tales humor. He loved gardening, reading, writing fiction, Florida State football (Go Noles!), and composing music, but most of all he loved his family deeply and unconditionally. Surviving are his loving wife of forty-one years, Nancy Eleazer; mother, Edna Lovett Eleazer; daughter, Courtney Eleazer and her husband Andrew Weidman; son, Bennett Eleazer; grandchildren, Ethan and Abigail Weidman; siblings, Louie Eleazer, Victor Eleazer, Marie Owen, Eric Eleazer; and extended family members and friends who loved him. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Harvest Hope, 2513 W Lucas St., Florence, SC 29501. https://www.harvesthope.org/ Please share memories and pictures with the family at the obituary section of www.stoudenmiredowling.com.
