Patricia Ann Thornton Effingham, SC Patricia Ann Thornton, 76, of Effingham, passed away on Friday, May 8, 2015 at Carolinas Hospital after an illness. She was born in Florence, SC a daughter of the late R.J. Thornton and Lucille Weatherford Thornton.She retired from Bethea Baptist Community as a LPN. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Robert Earl Thornton and sisters, Juanita T. Lewis and Lerline Nolan. Surviving are her sons, Robert Stokes and George (Jerri) Stokes, both of Florence; grandchildren, Robert (Heather) Stokes, Jr., Jennifer Stokes (Richie) Nichol, Wesley (Ashley) Stokes, Brandon Stokes and his fiance’, Brittany Tisdale; 7 great-grandchildren and sister, Roberta Thornton Whitaker. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at Mount Hope Cemetery.Burial will follow directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.
