Ollie Mae Johnson Hill Florence, SC Ollie Mae Johnson Hill, 93, of Florence, passed away Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at the McLeod Hospice House with her son, Dan, and granddaughter, Amber by her side. Mrs. Hill was born in Tigerville, SC, a daughter of the late George W. and Mary Boswell Johnson. She was a decorated US Army WWII Veteran, and was awarded 3 Overseas Service Bars, Good Conduct Medal, Philippine Liberation Medal, World War II Victory Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with 1 Bronze Service Star, and a Meritorious Unit Award. Mrs. Hill was also a teacher for over 30 years; and was a member of First Baptist Church in Florence. Mrs. Hill is preceded in death by her parents; her 3 brothers, WM. A. Johnson, Robert E. Johnson, and Boyd F. Johnson; and by her 3 sisters, Ethel Johnson Ballenger, Margie Johnson Plumblee, and Lucile Johnson Cunningham. Mrs. Hill is survived by her husband, Gary E. Hill, Jr., of Florence; and her son, Daniel G. Hill of Marion; her loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren; special friends, Marvin and Linda Slaughter, of Florence; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Sunday, June 24, 2012 in the Florence Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel; burial will follow directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. The family will receive friends 2-3:00 p.m. Sunday at Florence Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 300 S. Irby Street, Florence, SC 29501; or to the McLeod Hospice House, PO Box 100551, Florence, SC 29506. The family wishes to thank all the staff of the Methodist Manor of The Pee Dee for their wonderful care of Mrs. Hill; also special thanks to the truly compassionate staff of McLeod Hospice during this difficult time.
