OLIVIA C. WILKES FLORENCE, S.C. OLIVIA C. WILKES, 79, of Florence, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, December 01, 2011. Mrs. Wilkes was born February 17, 1932, a daughter of the late Ira K Coward and Mittie Lynch Coward.She was a retired nurse from McLeod Regional Medical center. Mrs. Wilkes was a blessed mother, caregiver, and nurse; she helped people in their time of need and was the most caring and loving mother ever known. Mrs. Wilkes was a lifelong member of Rumsey Memorial Church. Mrs. Wilkes was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, Adam J. Wilkes and Henry Thomas; and two brothers, Elliott Coward and Ira Joe Coward. Mrs. Wilkes is survived by her son, Adam D. Wilkes of Florence; her daughter, Annette W. (Dave) Makin of Florence; a sister, Marion Lynch of Coward; grandchildren, Tommy King Jr., Jessica Greene, Chrystal Hiers,and Candace King; great-grandchildren, Austin King, Jacob Cox, Tyler Lovett, Alisa Hiers, Gavin Shelley, Alex Hiers, and Oliver Greene. Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Sunday, December 4, 2011 at Rumsey Memorial Church. Burial will follow Matthews Cemetery in Coward, SC directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.
