Nonie Scott Poston

NONIE SCOTT POSTON FLORENCE, S.C. NONIE SCOTT POSTON, 84 of Florence passed away Friday, November 2, 2012. Mrs. Poston was born in Pinewood, SC, a daughter of the late John Clifton and Fannie McLeod Scott. She was a longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She was a past member of the Boxwood Garden Club in which she had been very active, and received a number of awards for her flower arrangements. Mrs. Poston also served as a member of the review and award committee for the Pee Dee Family of the Year. Surviving are her husband of 65 years, Roger Earl Poston of Florence; her son, Roger D. Poston and grandson Philip B. Poston, both of Denver, CO; daughter-in-law, Dianne Truluck Poston of Clumbia; brothers-in-law, William H. (Frankie) Poston of Florence Alwyn Lewis of Columbia, and Woody Hughes of Santee; sisters-in-law, Juliet (Bill) Dority of Hartsville and Mary Smith of Columbia; niece and nephew, Debby and Danny Ray of Florence; close friends, Margie and Larry Thomas of Camden, as well as her other nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Cliff Scott, Tommy Scott and Heyward Scott, and by her sisters, Betty Edwards, Jeannette Keefe, Jo Ann Lewis, Wanda Hughes and Patricia Dewitt. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at Mount Hope Cemetery, directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 P.M. Monday at the Funeral Home. The family would like to express the thanks and appreciation to the staffs of Bethea Baptist Health Care Center and McLeod Hospice for their loving care of Mrs. Poston.
