NELLA FRIAR ARD FLORENCE, SC NELLA FRIAR ARD, 75, of Florence, passed away Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at the McLeod Hospice House. Mrs. Ard was born in Florence, SC a daughter of the late Jeff L. Friar and Mary Jane Dennis Friar.She was a member of Dawsey United Methodist Church.She retired from Carolina Power and Light Co. after 24 years of service and later worked with the Junior League Association of Florence. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Benny Ray Friar and Jimmy Lamar Friar. Surviving are her husband of 55 years, James Clinton Ard of Florence; son, Jamie (Margie) Ard of Moncks Corner; daughters, Brenda Kay Ard of Ridgeland, SC and Janice (Matt) Cassidy of Hartsville; sister, Mary Nell Friar Sawyer; eight grandchildren, Heather Ard Taylor and James Christopher Ard, both of Moncks Corner, Michael Clontz, Chad Clontz and Eric Clontz, all of Florence, Kendall Cassidy Rice of Columbia, Stacey Cassidy and Gillam Cassidy, both of Hartsville and four great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the McLeod Hospice House, PO Box 100551, Florence, SC29502, www.mcleodfoundation.org. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, February 8, 2013 in the Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home chapel.Entombment will follow at Florence Memorial Gardens.
