Nell Smith

Nell Britt Smith, 87, of Florence, passed away on Sunday, December 18, 2016. Mrs. Smith was born in Lumberton, NC, a daughter of the late Zana Britt and Leola Kinlaw Britt.She was a homemaker.Mrs. Smith was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church, the WMU and President of Baptist Women.She was a loving caregiver for several family members. Surviving are her daughters, Sharon Smith McElveen of Ellijay, GA, Jo Anne Smith of Raleigh, NC and Marcia Smith Knight of Florence, SC; grandchildren, Leslie McElveen Bell and Allen Knight; and great-grandchildren, Jackson Bell, Bryan Bell, Blake Knight and Luke Knight. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Henry Smith; her brother, Clifton Britt and her sisters, Vivian Blackmon Autrey and Shirley Wall. Funeral Services will be held 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 21, 2016, at Calvary Baptist Church.Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. Family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
