Neddie Stanton Henderson

Neddie “Nana” Stanton Henderson, 92, of Florence, passed away on Thursday, September 25, 2014. Mrs. Henderson was born in Marlboro County, SC, a daughter of the late Grady Stanton, Sr. and Berta Gibson Stanton.Mrs. Henderson was a veteran of the US Army having served as a WAC during World War II.She was employed by the Fashion Center for fourteen years and retired from Belk after fifteen years of service. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and a charter member of Highland Park United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, James A. Henderson; her sister, Elizabeth Thompson and her brothers, Grady Stanton, Jr., John Stanton and James Stanton. Surviving are her children, Patti Henderson of Atlanta, GA and Debra Tumblin (Tommy) of Florence; her grandchildren, Brandon Tumblin (Jennifer) of Hope Mills, NC and Brooke Ashleigh Tumblin of Florence; great-grandchildren, Ashlyn Nimmons, Hunter Nimmons and Jason Nimmons; Lynnsey Leigh Anne Hopkins, who brought much joy to her life; her brothers, Harold Stanton (Winnie) and Leroy Stanton, both of Dillon, and her sister-in-laws, Janie Stanton and Delores “Dee” Stanton. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 29, 2014, at Calvary Baptist Church.Burial will follow at Florence Memorial Gardens directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. Family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
