Nathan Edward Thomas

Nathan Edward Thomas, 23, of Spartanburg, SC, died in his home on May 1, 2015. Nathan was born in Portland, Oregon on July 31, 1991. He graduated from South Florence High School in 2009.In 2010 Nathan joined the USMC, becoming a decorated combat veteran with assignments in North Carolina, Afghanistan and Japan.He recently separated from the USMC and was employed by Picanol of America in Greenville, SC. Nathan is survived by his daughters: Jocelyn Marie, Naomi Grace and Piper Lauren; his parents, J. Drew and Vanessa Thomas of Florence and Caryn Young of Tucson, AZ; siblings: David Thomas (Michelle) of Tucson, AZ, Heather Heard (Jimmy) of Gray Court, SC, Alexis Thomas of Tucson, AZ, Amanda Redmond of Florence, SC; and Nicole Thomas of Tucson, AZ; grandparents: LaVergne Hawks of Tucson, AZ, Corinne Honaker of Fairfield, TN, Beverly Davis of Laurens, SCand Peter Thomas of Lake Stevens, WA and also numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, USMC Brothers, friends and extended family. He is preceded in death by his grandmother, Susan Thomas; brother, Travis Thomas; his grandfather, Retired Master Sergeant USAF, B. David Honaker and his uncle, Michael Thomas. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 8, 2015 at Florence National Cemetery directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. Family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. on Friday at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
