NANCY L. UTTERBACK Nancy Margaret LeForce Utterback passed away on Friday, October 30, 2015 in Florence, South Carolina.She was born on April 17, 1934, in Wofford, Kentucky.She was the valedictorian of the 1950 class of Airport High School in Carleton, Michigan.She earned an Associate’s degree at Cumberland College in Williamsburg, Kentucky and then earned her Bachelor’s degree at Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, Michigan. She eventually spent over forty years in Lexington and Versailles, Kentucky where she raised her two children, Robyn and Jon.She also spent many years helping to care for her late parents, Arthur Milton and Gladys LeForce, and her neighbor and aunt, the late Josephine LeForce Vaughn. She had a lifelong love of reading and also enjoyed watching sports on television including the Kentucky Wildcats basketball team and professional tennis. In 2010, she relocated with Robyn and Dan Deery to Florence, South Carolina where she enjoyed cooking many meals for them and spending time with their dogs Ellie and Gracie. Mrs. Utterback is survived by her brother Garner LeForce, four sisters, Nell (Don) Bone, Beulah (Ben) Stein, Vera LeForce, and Coleen (Tim) Wysong. She has two children, Robyn (Dan) Deery of Florence, South Carolina and Jon (Chauna) Utterback of Dahlonega, Georgia.She is survived by five grandchildren, Dr. Sarah Deery, of Boston, Massachusetts, Daniel (Laura) Deery of Greenville, South Carolina, Rebecca (Thomas) Joyner of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, Elisabeth Utterback of Orlando, Florida, and Doug Utterback of Dahlonega, Georgia.She also has two great-grandchildren, Adelaide and Emma Rose Deery. There will be a small memorial service at the Stoudemire-Dowling Funeral Home in Florence, South Carolina on Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at 11:00am.
