Murphy Powell

Murphy Powell, 82, of Florence, died Friday, December 25, 2015 at his home. He was born February 19, 1933 in Florence county, a son of the late Leon and Margarie “Marie’ Stone Powell. He was a member of Pamplico Church of God, and was the retired owner/ operator of Powell Painting & Remodeling Company.He also served in the Korean War with the US Marine Corps. He is survived by his wife, Mable Inez Miles Powell of the home; a son, Donnie (Missy) Powell of Florence; grandchildren Tony Powell of Pamplico, Chris Powell of Florence and Cody Stanton of Pamplico; great-grandchildren, Alex Powell of Pamplico, Landin Powell of Florence, Aiden Powell and Kesler Stanton, both of Pamplico; and special relatives, Elma Lyerly and Laura Joye. He was predeceased by his son Johnny Powell; daughters, Brenda Powell and Connie P. Stanton; and sister Iva Nell Price. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at 3:00 P.M. in Hicks Cemetery in Coward, SC., assisted by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.
