Mildred Christine Poston

Mildred Christine Poston, 86, passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2026.

She was the daughter of the late Jim Lee Richardson and Lora Barnhill Richardson.

Christine had been a devoted member of First Baptist North Spartanburg for 26 years. She and her husband, Ken, settled in Moore, South Carolina, after his retirement following 36 years with United Insurance.

Christine met Ken while they were both working at A&P Grocery Store in Florence, South Carolina. Their meeting marked the beginning of a loving marriage that lasted 61 years.

She found joy in gardening, housekeeping, cooking for her family, and working word search puzzles. Above all, Christine’s life was centered on caring for others. She was also deeply blessed to be surrounded by wonderful, loving neighbors.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Poston; daughters, Terry and Vicki; sister, Nora Lee; and brothers, Clyde, Leon, and Gordon.

She is survived by her daughter, Karen (David) Stark; grandchildren, Emily (Nima), Matt (Anna), and Dan (Anne); 6 great grandchildren; and brother Tommy (Barbara) Richardson.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 3:00 PM Monday, April 13, 2026, at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home with the service to follow at 3:00 PM.

Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery.
