MICHELA SCHILLACI “MICKEY” SCATURRO, 91, of Florence passed away Sunday, September 29, 2013 in a local hospital after an illness. Mickey, as she was affectionately known, was born in Cerami, Italy, the daughter of the late Antonio and Antonia “Jennie” Valenti Schillaci. She was an active member of Saint Anthony Catholic Church, where she served with the Saint Anthony Womens’ Club and the Saint Anthony “Young at Heart” Seniors’ Club. Surviving are her children, Michael “Scat” (Terry) Scaturro, Phyllis Brandis, and Jannette (Kirby) Jordan, all of Florence, five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Salvatore Anthony Scaturro. A Mass of Christian Burial will be said at 10:00 AM Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at Saint Anthony Catholic Church. Entombment will follow in the Mount Hope Mausoleum, directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. There will be a Christian Wake Service beginning at 6:00 pm on Monday at the funeral home and the family will receive friends immediately following. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Saint Anthony Catholic Church Building Fund, PO Box 5327, Florence, SC 29502.
