Michael James McMann

Michael James McMann, 70, of Florence, SC passed away Tuesday, December 30, 2025.

Michael was born in Walden, NY, to the late Muriel Carroll McMann and Heston McMann. He graduated from Valley Central High School in Montgomery, NY, and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from SUNY Oneonta, Class of 1977.

After completing his education, Michael began a rewarding career as a counselor in the New York State Prison System. Known for his dedication and compassion, he made a lasting impact on the lives of many.

Michael was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, cherishing his family above all else. A long-time member of the Catholic Church of the Infant Saviour in Pine Bush, NY, he served as an usher and was actively involved in church life. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, where he contributed to the community in various ways.

As well as his work at the church, Michael taught church evening school for ages 6-12 and volunteered alongside his wife at the food bank in Bloomingburg, NY, serving those in need. He was also a regular attendee at Mt. View Methodist Church in Walker Valley, NY, demonstrating his deep commitment to faith and service.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Linda McMann.

Surviving is his wife, Joanne Wieczorek McMann; son, Sean McMann (Arianna Purgatorio, Life Partner); daughter, Lauren (Allen) Brockington; grandchildren, Mikayla, Sofia, Brooklyn, and Christian; and a brother, William McMann (Barbara).
