Max Eugene Gulledge

MAX EUGENE GULLEDGE FLORENCE, SC MAX EUGENE GULLEDGE, 76, of Florence, passed away on October 9, 2013 surrounded by his loving family at McLeod Regional Medical Center. “Pops”, as he was affectionately known by those who loved him, was born in Peachland, NC a son of the late Frank Gulledge and Lona Watts Gulledge.He was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church where he was a member of Mark Rutan’s “Rowdy Bunch for Christ”.He was a member of the SC State Guard of the Army Reserve.He was a previous member of the Optimist Club, active in the Provost Guard of the Pee Dee Shrine Club, a member of the Omar Shrine of Mt. Pleasant, a member of the Amity Lodge #340 AFM and active with Cooks for Christ.He retired from Overnite Transportation as a Terminal Manager and retired from Estes Express as a Sales Rep. It has been said of Max, that he has forgotten more about the trucking industry than most will ever learn. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers and three sisters. Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Patricia Lineberry Gulledge of Florence; daughters, Connie Gulledge of Charlotte, NC, Sharon (Gary Thames) Gulledge of Garden City, SC, Cathy (Gene) Park and Becky (Boyce) Francum, both of Florence; grandchildren, Shawn Gulledge, Phillip Tindall, Cameron Francum, Mason Park, Courtney Thames and Jessica Selph; three great-grandchildren; siblings, Frances Sanders, Robert Gulledge, Agatha Walters and Linda Gulledge; his canine companion, R.J. and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, October 13, 2013 at Ebenezer Baptist Church.Burial with Masonic Rites will follow in Florence Memorial Gardens directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.
