Mary Kathleen Meekins Dorrell

Mary Kathleen Meekins Dorrell Effingham, SC Mary Kathleen Meekins Dorrell, 89, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday morning, August 10, 2013. Kathleen was born in Florence Co., SC a daughter of the late Enoch John and Ethel Utley Thomas Meekins. She was a faithful member of Effingham Presbyterian Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roland Pearlon Dorrell, who died in 1992; daughter, Linda Dorrell, who died in 2007; 4 sisters, Louise Whisenhunt, Ruth Steele, Edna Meekins and Evelyn Langston and by a brother, Harold Meekins. Surviving are her 4 sons, Roland (Nancy) Dorrell, Kenneth (Reatha) Dorrell and Jimmy Dorrell all of Florence and Wallace Dorrell of Effingham; daughter, Betty (Ole) Kolberg of Cheraw; 11 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; brother, E. John Meekins, Jr. of Georgetown and a sister, Carolyn Gharis of Garland, TX. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 12, 2013 at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Monday, one hour prior to the service at the Funeral Home.
