Mary Louise Carrigan Garrison, 75, of Florence, passed away on Tuesday, August 12, 2014, at a local hospital. Mrs. Garrison was born in Winston-Salem, NC, a daughter of the late James Carrigan and Josephine Hill Carrigan.She graduated from Walter Williams High School in 1956 and went on to graduate from Wake Forest University in 1960 with a degree in English. She worked at UNC Medical Hospital for eight years as an EEG Technician. She moved to Florence from Burlington, NC in 1968 after her marriage to Parks Garrison.She worked for Dr. Hodge for ten years as an EEG Tech and then worked at McLeod Hospital as an EEG Tech and worked as a visual field technician with Stokes Eye Clinic for twenty years.Mrs. Garrison enjoyed working forty years in the medical field and loved her patients. She was President of Fandango Dance Club and an equestrian with Burlington North Carolina Saddle Club.Mrs. Garrison was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Josephine Boswell; and her nephew, Michael Holt Boswell. Surviving are her husband of forty-seven years, James Parks Garrison; her brother-in-law, Charles Edwin (Kay) Garrison; her nieces, Kelly Boswell Smith, Julia A. (Mark) Garrison Lisella, Tapley G. (Justice Bowen Baxter, III) Baxter; her great-nieces and nephews, Kimberly Boswell, Natalie Boswell, Michael Parks Boswell, Justice B. Baxter, IV and Campbell V. Baxter; her first cousins, Norman Hill of Raleigh, NC and his son, Karl Hill, and Karl (Linda) Hill of Easley, SC and beloved friend, Phyllis Hilliard. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 P.M. on Friday, August 15, 2014 in the Parish Hall at All Saints Episcopal Church, with the Funeral Service to follow at 2:00 P.M. in the Church Sanctuary. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery, directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.
