Mary Kathleen Calcutt Godwin

MARY KATHLEEN CALCUTT GODWIN FLORENCE, SC MARY KATHLEEN CALCUTT GODWIN, 92, of Florence, passed away Monday, April 29, 2013 at a health care facility after an illness. Mrs. Godwin was born in Florence Co., SC the baby of 11 children to the late James Henry Calcutt and Mary Elsie Dozier Calcutt. She attended Hyman Schools and at the age of 70 received her GED and her CNA license.She had worked for Wellman-Combing Co. in Johnsonville, Electro-Motive in Florence and A.B. Dick Co. in Lake City.She was a faithful member of Beulah Baptist Church where she received a plaque in 2003 recognizing her 50 plus years of dedicated service as head of the nursery. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Euford Godwin; siblings, A.B. Calcutt, Irene Calcutt Hewitt, Joe Calcutt, Rufus Calcutt, Berk Calcutt, Tom Calcutt, Beatrice Calcutt Poston, Louise Calcutt Broach, Blease Calcutt and Nora Calcutt Gee Hodge and by a daughter and son-in-law, Lynn and Dan Livingston. Surviving are her sons, Johnny (Faye) Godwin of Pamplico and Burl (Teresa) Godwin of Florence; 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. Memorials may be made to Beulah Baptist Church, 784 North Pamplico Highway, Pamplico, SC29583. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, May 2, 2013 at Beulah Baptist Church.Burial will follow in the church cemetery directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff at the Carolinian and at Southland Health Care Center for the care and kindness given to Mrs. Godwin and her family.
