Mary Pauline Filyaw, 89 of Florence passed away Monday, March 7, 2016 at Southland Nursing Home.Mrs. Filyaw was born on October 19, 1926 to the late Mattie Collins Owens and George Owens.She had been married for over 50 years to the late Hanie L. Filyaw, whom she missed greatly after his passing in 2004. Mrs. Filyaw had worked many years at Sherman Manufacturing in Darlington and then as the breakfast manager at Burger King in Florence.She was also employed at Coker’s of Florence for many years as a sales clerk. She was a member of Florence Baptist Temple. Mrs. Filyaw was happiest when she was surrounded by beautiful flowers and plants.She loved tending to them to make them grow and thrive.She also loved being with her family, especially her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her sons, Willie Coker and Boyd L. (Sonny) Filyaw; her daughter, Paulette F. Dungee; and many brothers and sisters. She is survived by her granddaughter, Chermarie (Stuart) Timmons; her grandson, Stephen (Whitney) Dungee and her two great-grandsons, Allen and Sean Timmons. Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 12 at the Florence Memorial Gardens Chapel.Burial will follow in the cemetery, directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.
