Martha W. Carter

Martha W. Carter, 78, of Florence, SC, passed away on August 12, 2021. She was born the daughter of the late Sherod Melvin and Mary Palmer White. She graduated from McClenaghan High School and Francis Marion University with a Bachelor’s Degree. She was a Social Services Supervisor for the SC DSS and loved her grandchildren and cat, Shotzi. She is predeceased by her parents along with her husband, John Albert Carter, Jr. She is survived by her sons, John Albert Carter III (Tammy) of Sumter, SC, Timothy Mark Carter (Vanessa) of Florence, SC; brother, Sherod Melvin White Jr. “Boe” (Pat) of Florence, SC; sister, Palmer W. O’Neal (Jerry) of Florence, SC; grandchildren, John Albert Carter III of Irmo, SC, Jordan Mackenzie Carter of Florence, SC; niece, Melissa Semb(Gary), nephew, Steven Bodie (Cate);and dear friend Ginger Gist. Memorial Service will be 4:00 PM, Sunday, August 22, at the Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home Chapel.
