Marion Gunter

Marion Gunter, 78, of Florence, passed away on Friday, June 30, 2017. Mr. Gunter was born in Marlboro Co., SC a son of the late John Moody Gunter and Lena Jacobs Gunter.He received an Associate Degree from Florence Darlington Technical College, was a member of the Woodmen of the World and attended the Gospel Temple Worship Center in Florence.He was a veteran of the US Air Force and retired from the Air National Guard after 29 years and from G.E./Ericsson after 25 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Clarence Gunter and John Hugh Gunter and sister, Mary Alice Sports. Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Alice Faye Bowles Gunter of Florence; daughters, Delsie (Steve) Pence of Oak Ridge, NC and Shellie Gunter and fiance’ Bob Lewis, both of Lexington, SC; grandchildren, Autumn Pence, Allison Pence and Vanessa “Gabby” Lindawood; brothers, Edward Gunter of Columbia, SC and Harry Gunter of Brookfield, FL; sisters, Iva Mae Brees of Hanahan, SC and Zena (Bob) Burch of Vienna, MD and a very special niece, Linda Gunter of Sumter. Memorials may be made to Regency Hospice, 960 Pamplico Hwy K, Florence, SC 29505. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 PM Monday at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home with the service to follow at 2:00 PM in the chapel.Burial will take place immediately after the service in Darlington Memory Gardens.
