MARION CHARLES GRIMSLEY Lexington, SC Marion Charles Grimsley, 89, died at the Presbyterian Home in Lexington, SC, June 18, 2012.Graveside services will be held at 11:00 Thursday, June 21, 2012 at Mount Hope Cemetery in Florence, SC. Mr. Grimsley was born in Mars Bluff, SC, the son of Charles Hezekiah and Lily Bailey Grimsley.He was the widower of Martha Thorpe Grimsley and Mary Smith Grimsley.He was a member of Surfside United Methodist Church of Surfside Beach.He retired from Tomlinson Warehouse Sales where he was a store manager and served on the Board of Directors.He served in the US Army in the 11th Airborne Unit as a part of the 457th Field Artillery in the Pacific Arena during World War II.He was a member of the Indiantown Masonic Lodge. In addition to his wives and parents, Mr. Grimsley was predeceased by four siblings, Beverly Irene Isgett, Elizabeth Rivers, Annie Ruth Woodham, and James Haulford Grimsley. He is survived by his son, Alan Grimsley, and his wife, Janina, of Columbia, SC;his daughters, Charla Tindall, and her husband, Rhett, of Georgetown, SC;and Annette Craig, and her husband, Don, of Easley, SC; six grandchildren,Adrienne Grimsley, Alyssa Colchin and her husband, Roger, Grayson Tindall, Trenton Tindall, Kim West and her husband, Tim, and Leigh Russell and her husband, Andy; three great-grandchildren, Maddie West, Savannah West and Benjamin Russell; brothers, Ernest and his wife, Margaret Grimsley and David and his wife, Pat Grimsley and a sister-in-law, Betty Grimsley, all of Florence and by many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home of Florence is assisting the family.
