Marilyn Porth Stephens

Marilyn Stephens, 82, wife of Jack Stephens, passed away on January 15, 2018. Marilyn was born in Lexington, SC, the daughter of the late Brady H. Porth and Emma Arnold Porth.She was a homemaker in addition to operating a needlework shop, The Needle Nut, for many years.She was a member of Saint Peters Lutheran Church until her marriage, and has since been a member of Highland Park United Methodist Church.Her passions were shopping and playing bridge.She excelled at both and usually won.She loved little children with all her heart. Surviving are her husband of 59 years, Jack, and sons, Marty Stephens and Scott Stephens, daughter Susan Martin, and David Martin.Also, grandsons Jackson Stephens (Natasha), Michael Martin, and Tyler Martin; granddaughters, Grier Low, Lauren Queen (John), and Lacey Stephens; great-grandchildren, Evelyn, Blakely, Meredith, and Oliver.Also, brothers Oddie Porth (Joyce) and Brady Porth (Becky); nieces Amy Collins (Brett), Ronda Porth, Ginger Cline (Jason), Penni Norris (Richard), Jeuli Dawkins (Ronnie), and nephews Joddie Porth (Karen) and Brady Porth III (Valerie) and brother-in-law Charles Stephens (Murray) and nephews Ben Stephens (Jennie) and Brad Stephens. The family would like to thank the staff of Elmcroft for their loving care. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 17, 2018. A memorial service will be held at Highland Park United Methodist Church at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 18, 2018.
