Marie Kanos Keretses

Marie Kanos Keretses died Thursday, May 5, 2016 after an illness. Marie Kanos Keretses was born on December 2, 1925 in Fayetteville, NC. She was the daughter of the late Lucy Underwood Kanos and James V. Kanos, of Fayetteville, N.C. She is survived by: her husband, George C. Keretses of Florence, SC and of The Eat More Restaurant, her son Spero C. Keretses of Columbia, SC, her daughter-in-law, Roni Guinn Keretses of Columbia, SC, her grandchildren: James Keretses(Alys) of Baltimore, Md, Will Keretses and Mary Keretses of Columbia, SC, a sister, Helen Gantsoudes of Danville, VA and her brothers, Nick Kanos(Rose Marie) of Tarpon Springs, Florida, and Chris Kanos(Elaine) of Stamford, Connecticut. Marie was a founding member of the Greek Orthodox Church in Florence, where she served as a member of the Philoptohos and taught Sunday school, in the early years. She was a stellar homemaker, as she loved to cook and had a gift for gardening. Her happiest moments were spoiling her beloved grandchildren and watching them excel in their endeavors. The Trisagion Service and visitation will be held on Friday, May 6, 6:00 pm, at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. The funeral will begin at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 7, in the Greek Orthodox Church, 2990 S. Cashua Drive in Florence, SC.Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery.
