Margaret W. Weatherford

Margaret W. Weatherford, 87, after a brief illness, died Wednesday evening, November 14, 2018. She was surrounded by her loving family at the time and her passing was peaceful. Mrs. Weatherford was born in Florence, S.C. on April 9, 1931. She was the daughter of Eli Cecil “Big Daddy” Williams and Janie Hampton Williams, both of Florence.She was married to Gordon B Weatherford (deceased), and is survived by four children, Gordon Lee Weatherford, William B. Weatherford, Janie Weatherford Kirkland, Michael K. Weatherford, one deceased child, Rosemary W. Thomas, 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Mrs. Weatherford, a lifelong resident of Florence, was educated in Florence Public Schools before receiving training as a nurse in the Nurses Training Facility of the original McLeod Hospital.She began and ended her forty-year nursing career at Saunders Memorial Hospital (later known as Florence General Hospital) on Dargan Street.She retired in 1996. Her family and friends remember her as a dedicated mother and grandmother whose small stature was in stark contrast to her deep personal strength, determination and energy.Humor, thoughtfulness and caring were the cornerstones of her personality.She will be missed greatly. Funeral services will be at 3PM, Saturday, November 17 in the Chapel of Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.The viewing will be between 2 PM and 2:45 PM and after burial at Mt.
