Margaret Frances Parsons Mccoll

Margaret Frances Parsons McColl, 79, of Florence, passed away on Friday, November 17, 2017 at Carolinas Hospital. Mrs. McColl was born in Montgomery Co., NC a daughter of the late David Fairley Parsons and Lois Grace Hughes Parsons.She was a 1956 graduate of Mt. Gilead High School and a graduate of Morgan’s Business School in Albemarle, NC and had worked for The Box Company and United Mills in Mount Gilead, NC.Upon her marriage to James McColl on July 21, 1963, she became a homemaker providing a loving home for her family. Margaret was also a loving mother and grandmother to the neighborhood children and was best known for her delicious southern cooking, especially her cakes and pies. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Cecil (Juanita) Parsons and Larry (Betty Lou) Parsons and brother-in-law, Lathan Cox. Surviving are her husband of 54 years, James Copeland McColl; son, James (Susan) McColl; daughter, Trudy (Jeff) Crawley; grandchildren, Morgan McColl, David McColl, Ashley (Luke) Ross and Amber (Chris) Lee; great-grandchildren, Margaret Ross, Addisyn Thomas, Eden Thomas and Eleanor Lee; brothers and sisters, Catherine Cox, Clem (Mae) Parsons, Sedina (Jim) Bush, Vickie (Ray) Edwards and Debbie (Philip) Saunders. Memorials may be made to Southside Baptist Church, 1356 Pineland Drive, Florence, SC29505 or to the Gideons International, P. O. Box 140800, Nashville, TN37214-0800. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 PM Monday, November 20, 2017 at Southside Baptist Church with the service to be held at 2:00 PM in the church sanctuary.Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.
