FLORENCE - Margaret Poston Lyerly, 76, passed away at the McLeod Hospice House surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, May 10, 2015, following a long illness. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, May 14, 2015, in First Free Will Baptist Church, 2624 W. Palmetto Street, Florence, SC.Burial will follow in Florence Memorial Gardens, 3320 S. Cashua Drive, Florence, SC.The family will receive friends in the church sanctuary of First Free Will Baptist Church beginning at 3:00 p.m. with the funeral to follow at 4:00 p.m. in the church sanctuary.Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home is assisting the family. Mrs. Lyerly was born in Florence County on November 5, 1938, a daughter of the late Jessie Deleon Poston and Ola Stone Poston.She was married for fifty-four years to her beloved husband, Carlton Eugene Lyerly.She enjoyed travelling and sightseeing with her husband.Mrs. Lyerly was the perfect example of a Christian lady, wife, mother and grandmother, cherishing time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. Mrs. Lyerly was an active member for forty-five years of First Free Will Baptist Church, Florence.Before her illness, she was a long time, faithful member of the Bethel Sunday School Class, the Adult Choir, the Golden Agers, taught Sunday School, served on the Flower Decorating Committee, as well as served on many other functions of the church. During Mrs. Lyerly’s working career, she was employed at Wentworth Manufacturing Company, Lake City, Electric Motive Company, and General Electric Company, Florence. Surviving are a daughter, Julie L. (Glenn) Ham of Effingham, son-in-law, Matt Tyler of Florence, four grandchildren, Tyler (Ariel) Ham of Nashville, TN, Jesslyn Ham of Effingham, Alana Tyler and Austin Tyler, both of Florence, two brothers, Billy Poston, Danny (Midge) Poston, two sisters, Dean P. Richardson, Pansy P. Lowe, all of Poston Corner, and a large number of nieces, nephews and special friends. Mrs. Lyerly was predeceased in death by her parents, one daughter, Cynthia L. Tyler (date deceased March 24, 2008), a sister, Jessie Mae P. Cagle Graham, a sister-in-law, Juanita H. Poston, brothers-in-law, McRoy Richardson, Bobby Cagle, Charlie Graham and Terry Lowe.
