Madeline Cottingham Huggins

MADELINE C. HUGGINS FLORENCE, SC Madeline C. Huggins, 84, of Florence, passed away Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at her daughter's residence after an illness. Mrs. Huggins was born in Alma, NC a daughter of the late Henry McCallum Cottingham and Lena McLean Cottingham.She was a graduate of McCleneghan High School and was a member of First Presbyterian Church where she worked in the 2 year old class for many years, worked in Mother's Morning Out and had also worked in Arlene's Child Care Center. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, William Russel Huggins, who passed away on October 31, 1962. Surviving are her children, Russel Dale Huggins, Henry Durand Huggins and Denise H. (David) Alvey, all of Florence; grandchildren, Chad (Ashley) Huggins, Danielle Alvey (Eddie) McElveen and Brooke Alvey; great-grandchildren, Allison McElveen; sister, Arlene C. Gore of Coward, SC and a number of nieces and a nephew. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 7021 St. Andrews Road, Suite 100A, Columbia, SC29212. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, February 9, 2013 at Mount Hope Cemetery directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the cemetery and other times at the residence of David & Denise Alvey.
