Louis Guy Harris

Louis Guy Harris, 85, of Florence, SC passed away Sunday, September 24, 2017. Guy was born August 20, 1932 in Florence, SC a son of the late Hazel Guy Harris and Lela D. Harris. He was a member of South Florence Baptist Church. He served in the National Guard for over 40 years and worked in the civil service side of the National Guard for 20 years. Guy enjoyed watching old movies and spending time with his dog Dixie of 16 years. He loved his family and spending time with them, and was known for being a very quiet and humble man. He is preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Annette G. Harris. Guy is survived by his son, Steven Guy Harris of Florence; a daughter, Deborah H. (Jimmy Lee) Herring of Florence; a step-daughter, Jennifer Annette Nelson of Marshville, NC; a brother, Jack Harris of Florence; four granddaughters, Lindsey Herring of Florence, Lauren Cole of Boiling Springs, Ashley Skipper of Florence and Caroline Skipper of Marshville, NC; and a special friend, Shirley Holliday. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at Florence Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel with entombment to follow. The family will receive visitors from 10:00-11:00 AM in the Mausoleum chapel prior to the service. Memorials may be made to South Florence Baptist Church, 2720 S Irby St, Florence, SC 29505.
