Lou “Diane” Shetley Altman, 75, of Galivants Ferry, formerly of Florence, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 8, 2018.She was the wife of the late Thomas “Tommy” Altman, Sr. Diane was born in Sheffield AL., a daughter to Catherine Headley Shetley and the late Rhoten Shetley, Sr.She was a 1959 graduate of McClenaghan High School and a cosmetologist for more than 50 years, formerly owning and operating “The Hair Port” in Florence. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Florence.Diane was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister.She never met a stranger, always nourishing those around her with love, faith, and friendship. After retirement, she moved to Greenville, SC to care for her mother.They both later moved to Galivants Ferry to be cared for by a granddaughter, Morgan Rabon and her family.Diane remained there even after her mother moved to Beaufort. In addition to her mother, Diane is survived by two sons, David Altman (Julia) of Pelzer and JosephAltman of Greenville; granddaughters, Morgan Rabon (Chad) of Galivants Ferry and Madelaine Altman of Anderson; grandsons, Sean Mills of Florence, Campbell Altman and Christian Altman of Pelzer; great-grandsons, Blake Rabon and Bayler Rabon of Galivants Ferry and Dietz Mills of Florence; sisters, Judy Hitch (Bob) of Dallas TX., Suzi Davis of Beaufort S.C., and Cathy Gowan (Murray) of Greenville S.C.; brother-in-law, Ladson Stringfellow of Chester S.C.; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and father, Diane was predeceased by her son, Thomas “Tom” Altman, Jr., daughter-in-law, Susan Altman, brother, Rhoten “Rip” Shetley, Jr., and sister, Rita Stringfellow. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 14, 2018, at Immanuel Baptist Church.Burial will follow at Florence Memorial Gardens directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12 p.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Immanuel Baptist Church, 306 West Cherokee Road, Florence, SC29501.
