LORIE M. COX FLORENCE, SC LORIE M. COX, 77, of Florence, passed away Friday, May 31, 2013 in a Florence hospital after an illness. Mr. Cox was born in Mullins, SC a son of the late William Cullen Cox and Odessa Miles Cox.He was a graduate of Hemingway High School.He retired after 45 years as a service technician with Horne Ford where he received many certifications, awards and trained many employees.He was a member of the SC National Guard for 15 years and when his health permitted, he attended Parkwood Presbyterian Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Marion, Blondon and Cortez Cox and sisters, Virginia Creel and Madeline Baxley. Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Shirley Flowers Cox of Florence; daughters, Terrie C. (Rodney) Turner of Florence and Sheila C. (Dave) Wroten of Myrtle Beach, SC; brothers, Cletus Cox of Pamplico and Medford Cox of Johnsonville; sister, Virgilene Davison of Darlington; grandchildren, Erica Turner (Brandon) Hooks, Audra Michelle Turner, John Brandon Porter, Joshua Ryan Porter, Haley Miles Porter, Demi Lee Wroten, Kara Wroten Agosta and Keegan Lee Wroten; great-grandson expected in October, Turner Miles Hooks; many nieces and nephews including a special niece, Debbie Moore (Terrell) Moss. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM Sunday, June 2, 2013 in the Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home Chapel.Entombment will follow at the Florence Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 3 – 4 PM Sunday at the funeral home prior to the service.
