Lonnie David Welch

Lonnie David Welch, 75, of Florence, SC passed away on Thursday, May 23, 2019. Mr. Welch was born in Turbeville, SC a son of the late Columbus Lucius Welch and Rosa Bell Morris Welch.He was a member of the Bay Branch Free Will Baptist Church and retired after more than 20 years from the Florence Police Department. He was preceded in death by his parents, 5 siblings and by one great-grandchild, Kalib Steven Koelling. Surviving are his wife, Karen Freeman Welch of Florence; daughters, Elizabeth Marie (Mike) Johnson; Debbie Lynn (George) Smith, and Angela Bell (Bruce) Richter; grandchildren, Brandon David Koelling, Becky Renee Brown, Brent Alan Koelling, Austin McKissick Smith, and Zachary Patrick Smith; nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Bertha Coker, Bobbie Jean Cason, and Rosa Lee Driggers. Memorials may be made to the Florence Police Department, 324 West Evans Street, Florence, SC29501. The family will receive friends from 4 – 6 pm Saturday, May 25, 2019 at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, May 26, 2019 in the Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home Chapel.Burial will follow in Florence Memorial Gardens.
