LLOYD SMITH EFFINGHAM, SC LLOYD SMITH, 71, of Effingham, SC, passed away Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at the McLeod Hospice House after an illness. Mr. Smith was born in Florence, SC a son of the late Lewis Oliver Smith and Evelean Humphries Smith.He farmed his whole life during the day and retired after 33 years of working the graveyard shift at Delta Mills.He was a member of Lebanon Free Will Baptist Church, enjoyed fishing, woodworking and any activities involving his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; twin brother, Lewis Smith and sister, Helen Brown. Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Georgia McLaughlin Smith of Effingham; daughter, Daisy S. Allen (Furman) of Effingham; brothers, Clarence Smith (Marilyn), Talbert Smith (Juilene), Larry Smith, Oliver Smith, Jr. (Debra) and Jerry Smith (Wendy); sisters, Ada Jones, Vickie Matthews (Jimmy) and Sherry Carmon (W.L.); grandchildren, Spencer Allen (Lauren) and Candice Allen; great-grandchild, Levi Evans; numerous nieces and nephews and a special friend, Joe Garrison. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, April 27, 2013 at Lebanon Free Will Baptist Church.Burial will follow at the Evergreen Baptist Church Cemetery in Effingham directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 PM Friday at the funeral home. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at McLeod Regional Medical Center and the McLeod Hospice House for the care and kindness given to them during this difficult time.
