Lindy Cook Matthews Florence, SC Lindy Cook Matthews, 85, of Florence, formerly of Lake City, passed away Monday, November 28, 2011 at her daughter's residence after an illness. Mrs. Matthews was born August 16, 1926, a daughter of the late Layton C. and Sue Osborne Cook. She was a Realtor; and the owner of Matthews Real Estate in Lake City. Until her retirement, she was an active member of the Realtor Association of the Greater Pee Dee. She loved the Lord and served Him faithfully for almost 80 years. She was a charter member of Faith Holiness Church. Mrs. Matthews was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert J. Matthews; her brother, L.C. Cook, Jr.; and by her sister, Ada C. Shokes. Mrs. Matthews is survived by her son, Rev Robert J. (Melsa) Matthews, Jr. of Ladson;daughters, Patsy M. (Jimmy) Wiggins of Greensboro, NC, Peggy M. (Charles) Collins of Florence, and Judy M. (Jack) Ward, of Lake City; grandchildren,Kim Ward of Lake City, Teresa Ward Dix of Myrtle Beach, Chris (Sherri) Ward of Lake City, Melinda Collins (Jerry) McLamb of Florence, Matthew (Juliett) Collins of Charleston, Jay Wiggins and Kevin Wiggins, bothof Greensboro, NC, Sonja Wiggins Joyner of Charleston, Lori Matthews(Sean) Murphy of Myrtle Beach, and Becca Matthews (Brad) Gilbert of Bellevue, NE; great-grandchildren,Matt Dix and Ashley Dix, both of Myrtle Beach, SC, Carmen Ward andRyder Ward, both of Lake City,Meghan McLamb, Morgan McLamb, Mason McLamb and Mills McLamb, all of Florence, Fulmer Collins, Hew Collins, and Lindy Collins, all of Charleston, Kamden Joyner and Cole Joyner, both of Clayton, NC,Patrick Murphy, Nathan Murphy, and Cooper Murphy, all of Myrtle Beach, Tristan Gilbert and Alexis Gilbert, both of Bellevue, NE; and a great-great grandchild, Charlee Dix of Myrtle Beach. Funeral Services will be held 2:30 pm Wednesday, November 30, 2011 in the chapel of Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Lake City Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 1:30-2:30 pm Wednesday at the funeral home and other times at the residence of Charles and Peggy Collins.
