LILLIAN BRYANT STRICKLAND FLORENCE, SC Lillian Bryant Strickland, 84, of Florence, passed away on Friday, March 06, 2015 at her residence after an illness. Mrs. Strickland was born in Darlington Co., SC a daughter of the late Emmitt Lauren Bryant and Sadie Gibson Bryant. A devoted Christian and loving mother and grandmother.She was a member of the Southern Methodist Church of Florence. She served for many years as a Sunday School teacher and a member of the Women’s Missionary Union.She devoutly supported her husband in the churches that he pastored and served as a hospitality hostess for the church members.She had formerly been employed as a clerk with Smith Drug Company. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Rev. William Abraham “Bill” Strickland, who passed away on November 12, 1995; daughter-in-law, Amy C. Strickland; son-in-law, Russell McGuirt; brothers, James Bryant and E.L. Bryant, Jr.; sisters, Elizabeth Flowers and Emmie Byrd. Surviving are her sons, Michael (Bonita) Strickland of Lexington and J. Oral Strickland of Florence; daughters, Faye McGuirt of McColl, SC, Laura (Tommy) Stokes of Florence and Naomi (Winfred) Hallman of Batesburg, SC; 13 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren; sister, Myrtle Watford of Timmonsville and sister-in-law, Juanita Bryant of Darlington. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, March 8, 2015 in the Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home chapel.Burial will follow in Florence Memorial Gardens.
