Lila Mae Strickland Griggs Florence, SC Lila Mae Strickland Griggs, 89, of Florence, passed away on Thursday, April 11, 2013 in a local health care facility after an illness. Mrs. Griggs was born in Florence Co., a daughter of the late Corbett and Lovella Brown Strickland.She retired from Florence Manufacturing Company.Mrs. Griggs was a faithful and active member of First Free Will Baptist Church since 1953 and was an active member of the Mirial Gainer Sunday School Class. She is preceded in death in addition to her parents, by her loving husband of 62 years, Ham W. "Buddy" Griggs; six brothers and sisters. Surviving are a sister, Alene S. (Iven) Miles of Darlington; two brothers, Phillip L. (Vevelyn) Strickland of West Virginia and Beattie C. Strickland of Florence; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, April 15, 2013 at First Free Will Baptist Church.Burial will follow in the Swift Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to First Free Will Baptist Church, 2624 W. Palmetto St., Florence, SC 29501. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM on Sunday at the funeral home.
